My Courageous and Loving Daughter, Angela Suzanne,
Today marks ten months since you left this world and walked into eternity. I still miss you so! Each room in the house echoes with silence. Your memory lingers. My heart carries your presence with me. I often talk to you and think of all the many times we did things together. Going to Branson, birthday celebrations, visiting relatives, the Ledell Reunion, times going to the YMCA for exercises and then on to Starbucks for our breakfast. We were melted together as one, mother and daughter forever and ever.
Angela, you carried peace that still reverberates in my heart and soul. Never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that my youngest sweet little blond-haired daughter would face the terrible disease of stage four lung cancer and end up leaving this world before I did. During those eight months of suffering, you never once complained but kept positive and did your very best to get through each day. I especially miss each night when I would get you ready for bed and then give you the medications you needed to help you sleep. I would pray for you that the Lord would watch over and keep you and that His Holy Angels would guard and keep you through the night. Now all that pain and suffering you went through is over and you are at rest with your heavily father.
I always wanted the best for you. To enjoy life and yet throughout your short-lived life you were faced with so many physical and emotional challenges. Being born deaf in you right ear must have been difficult to hear and understand the world around you. What amazes me more, is that until you were tested for hearing in the second grade, I did not even realize that you were deaf in your right ear. If only I had known. I feel so ashamed and guilty. Being your mother, I should have known.
Looking back, I marvel at how you learned to walk, talk and live without complaining. Always appearing to be trusting. What a gift you were to our family. What a blessing we were given throughout your lifetime.
Recently Dolly Parton passed away at the age of eighty. One of her most loved songs was, “I Will Always Love You.” That’s what comes to mind about you as I am writing this letter.
Love forever & always,
Your forever, Mother
