Tired of Waiting?

More than once in my life the Lord has reminded me to not frustrate His keeping power. What does that mean? It has to do with having the patience to wait. Hebrews 10:36 says, “For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise.” (KJV)

Waiting requires a lot of patience. We live in a world of microwaves, fast-food, on-line banking, AI (artificial intelligence) where it will write an article you request, and Google can answer all kinds of questions for you. So, what does it take to wait?

Think of the waitress/waiter, the bank teller, a patient at the doctor’s office, those who deliver your packages. There are many who are paid to wait. The point being, waiting requires one to stay attentive, to continue doing what a day requires. Many times, one will experience a delay. Delays are not denials. They can be advantageous as delays/waiting can sometimes be a protection from harm or danger. What are we as writer’s waiting on? Finding an editor, maybe a publisher or just the time to sit down and write without distractions and interruptions.  Certainly, we can make plans, organize, do research, however Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” What can be difficult are the many distractions that occur on a daily basis. Sometimes waiting can be that our plans are not aligned with God’s plan and purpose for our life.

The waiting for the promise that God has given can be frustrating, and even overwhelming. I am reminded time and again, that He will keep me in perfect peace when my mind is focused on Him. That I am in this world but not of this world and what it dictates. If there are issues, He is the repairer of the breach. So, when we experience interruptions, heartache, illness, accidents; these things are temporary. It is so important to step back and pray to allow the Lord to give us his peace. If we are drawn into high emotional stress we are operating out of our right brain where unrest and irrational thought patterns occur creating a lack of clarity that creates unrest and anxiety.
